The Football Academy is a two-year, full-time Education and Football Development programme delivered in partnership with professional and non-league football clubs. Open to talented footballers aged between 16–18 years, the Academy Programme is a must for any football enthusiast, and a playing trial is required as places will be offered based on playing ability.

We are in partnership with a company called SCL (Soccer Coaching Limited) who are responsible for the management and delivery of the educational element of The Football Academy.

SCL deliver the NVQ Football Coaching Diploma in partnership with over thirty Sixth Form Colleges, Further Education Colleges and professional/non-league football academies in the south of England.

As part of a recent school Sixth Form OFSTED report, the course and delivery were awarded: ‘Excellent, without any weaknesses’ Football Training and Match Provision Overview

• 8-10 hours a week of the Football Development Training Programme with UEFA A and B Licenced Coaches

• Matches each Wednesday afternoon. • Training will focus on technical, tactical and physical attributes of each player with regular appraisal and feedback opportunities.

• Training will take place right here at Sporting Club Thamesmead.

• Matches will be hosted at Sporting Club Thamesmead.

The Education Programme is a two- year programme during which time academy players will study a variety of nationally recognised qualifications within the subject of sport, coaching and fitness.

The education programme will include qualifications such as VRQ Diplomas, delivered at Level Two and Level Three (A-Level equivalence).

Successful completion of the educational programme will enable players to follow both pathways into Higher Education at selected universities and employment opportunities within the sport and leisure industry, including coaching placements and playing scholarships in America.
